How to get to Delft
Delft is a beautiful city in the Netherlands, known for its canals, historic architecture, and colorful houses. It is also home to the Technical University of Delft, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the Netherlands.Â
You can reach Delft from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol by:
Train:
Once you land at Schiphol Airport, follow the signs to the train station which is located directly beneath the airport. There are escalators and lifts available to get to the train station.
You can purchase a train ticket to Delft at the yellow self-service ticket machines located near the platforms or at the service desk. These machines accept both cards and cash. As of my knowledge cutoff in 2021, the price for a one-way ticket was approximately 12-15 Euros. The ticket prices may vary, so check the current fare when buying the ticket.
Look for trains heading to Delft. Note that there may not be a direct train from Schiphol to Delft. If there's no direct connection, take a train to Den Haag (The Hague) and then change trains to Delft. The journey should take around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your connections.
Upon your arrival at Delft Train Station, you have the option of taking a bus or a taxi to reach your final destination - the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Here, you will be attending the MOSES 2023 Conference hosted in the Aula.
By Taxi or Rideshare:
Taxis and rideshare services like Uber are also available at Schiphol Airport. You can find the taxi rank right outside the arrivals hall.
This option is more expensive than the train, costing potentially upwards of 70 Euros, depending on traffic and the exact location of your destination. However, it can be convenient if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling in a group.
The journey by taxi or rideshare service should take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic.
